“I Have a Dream.” The League.

league-dreams

Once again its a Sunday night and I find myself collecting my various thoughts from the week into one post to answer the weekly League of Extraordinary Bloggers question.  This week’s assignment:

I have a dream…

That’s a tall order lately.  With the first child on the way, my dreams along with every other part of me has changed.  Ten months ago I would tell you that I dream about having millions of dollars and tons of stuff and all that.  Now my dreams are more along the lines of please Dear God let my boy have 10 fingers and 10 toes and no health problems and let my wife get through all of this safe and healthy.  So, you know, priorities.

So what dreams are still relevant to these dual personalities?

I have a dream….

…That one day Father, son, and wife/mother will go to a comic convention as a family.

…That one day I will earn my income in a geeky way.  It may be writing comics, or having a store, or running a website that rakes in advertising dollars.  But one day I will have the job that is the envy of all.

….That one day my cat will catch a fucking mouse! instead of watching the fuzzy little shit run right past.

…That studios will stop fearing streaming technology and just embrace it.  NBC makes shows.  Those shows make money.  Those shows end and are put out on DVD and those also make money.  Eventually those DVDs go out of print, or don’t sell well enough to release the entire series, and thus cannot be bought.  Now NBC (for example) makes no money off of the show.  So why not throw it up on Netflix or Hulu and take whatever pennies are earned in that deal.  Even a couple bucks is more than zero.  This is all a very long way of saying I want Night Court!  I know the first and second season DVD sets sold for shit.  There’s a reason for that.  Christine Sullivan wasn’t added until the third season.

…That the above example spreads to other studios and companies resulting in the WWE library, Loony Toons, Hanna Barbera, Disney, classic Late Night talk shows and more will be available in full.  Seriously, is anyone making money right now over the Late Night with David Letterman featuring Bill Hicks?  No?  Then throw it up on Netflix!

…That despite having a child we will find the time to start watching such modern golden age fare as Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy.

…That I get to write at minimum one page in one Marvel Comic at some point in my life.  And on that page will be Speedball.

…That one day my imitation of Henchman 21 will come in handy.

…That I attend a convention and find a long lusted animation cel from the Fantastic Four cartoon.

…That I can continue to write for my entire life.

Alright fans and friends that’s enough out of me.  Lets see what fellow League members had to say.

    • Freaking cat did it again today. I watched it stare at a mouse and do nothing. Too much cat nip. I have a lazy stoner of a feline.

  1. First of all, congrats!

2nd, I agree about putting stuff up for streaming. At some point, this hesitant “one toe in the water” approach has got to stop.

    • For real! Everything is going to be available in this format eventually. Just stop pussy footing around and get on it!
