The Harley Davidson Avengers #1 Review.

I know what you’re thinking.  What or who the hell are the Harley Davidson Avengers?  Well its a lot of set up for the next issue is what it is.  But let me tell you about what’s here.

As you can see on the cover, Captain America is riding a motorcycle.  Chances are its a Harley.  Within the issue there is only one other scene involving motorcycles.  (Besides the dramatic last page.)  Cap and Black Widow are riding some cycles.  Black Widow’s boobs are falling out.  Thus making this drawing more attractive than 99% of the women seen in Easyriders.

The story in the issue is pretty good.  Chances are it doesn’t take place within official Marvel continuity but it doesn’t matter.  Its a fun story.  Hawkeye is captured by Baron Zemo.   Cap and Widow are riding in to save him.  Thor, Iron Man and Bruce Banner are flying in.  Zemo is assisted by not only the Masters of Evil but also by dangerous creepy alien looking characters from the Negative Zone.  For just a fun read, this succeeded on all counts.  Every character was written well, a fun fight with Taskmaster, good banter.  It really was enjoyable.

Until the ending.

See, as this is a Harley Davidson sponsored comic book eventually there has to be some Harleys.  I thought the previously mentioned scene would be it.  But oh no.  Here is the final page of issue one.

The Road Force rolls in.  Road Force.  Besides sounding like  a grindhouse era dangerous highway film a la The Hitcher, what is the Road Force?  There is at least five members of the Force, guessing from the headlights.  Are they other heroes?  Will we recognize them from established Marvel lore?  Also who will own these characters?  I’ll assume Harley.  Maybe we can look forward to a Road Force cartoon this fall, sponsored by Harley Davidson.

Good comic for the Avengers.  Bad comic for Road Force.  But I cant wait until issue two to find out what in the hell is the Road Force.

  1. Could be the old Team America. They were a group of trick riders that had a 12 issue series back in the 80’s, and made a few guest shots in Captain America & New Mutants. There were 5 of them, and they could form into the “Masked Rider”, who had enhanced strength, speed, and agility, etc., etc.

Might be cool if they actually did something with them…but probably not the case.

  2. Road Force is a group of winners from a contest that was done up by harley-davidson/ marvel comics…it consist of people that made stories of themselves and gave themselves super powers, the winners were based on creativity and originality, and I know this because I am one of those winners
