In the wake of the of the bands announcement that this would be their last album, DCB have created a tribute to what they hold dear and in a way a tribute to the band that they have become.
It’s clear that, since the band decided to call it quits, DCB have been really busy in the studio. Towards the tail end of last year, the band released Oh For Joy, the band’s first and last Christmas album. Give Us Rest gives us 34 tracks over two CD’s, but surprisingly doesn’t overwhelm.
The albums primary focus is in death, similar to 2005’s A Collision. But the album actually goes a lot deeper, not focusing on the left behind feeling and the pain, but the process of moving on and finding something to cling to. The liner notes include modified images of the bands previous album covers, which gives it almost that epitaph feeling “your life flashing before your eyes.” The music ranges from the bands old and new sound as well.
Though song content may be an issue for many, this is a really solid record worthy of any music enthusiast.
