How Did You Find Me? – Business Deals

To appear in this column, please contact me and we can work out a deal to promote your site through mine!  Awesome idea!

However, this isn’t as great an idea as making business proposals over the internet.  This comment was actually posted, just not approved. I think you’ll see why.

My name is Johnny L. Rispress. I have a interest in starting a business with you. I would like to know would you like to start a lease agreement with me I have 1.1 acre of land Midland City,Alabama off of Interstate U:S. Highway 231. I was wondering would you like to lease the to build a T V station on it . I can be reached at home at 13345850387 or my cell at 13344052521. Please contact me at your earliest convenience.

Lets review.  You give me your name, a location, and two phone numbers.  Thanks to reverse look up I can confirm that one of these numbers actually is registered to a Johnny Rispress.  I, Kevin Hellions, (and not my legal name) have never talked to this person.  Nor have I thrown my finances (or lack of) out there for the internet to peruse.  Therefore, there is no reason for this person to ask me to enter into any sort of business arrangement with him.  Nor is there any reason to expect me to move, nor have the know how to run a TV station.

I’m sure the people of Alabama are wonderful.  But there is no way that the town of Midland City is looking to expand their media presence.  The town had a population of just over 1700 people in the 2000 census.  I know people with more Facebook friends.  Legit ones.  That they’ve met and can call.  It does not appear that they have a major TV, radio, newspaper or any other form of media that is based in town.  I’m sure there’s one that provides the county with news, but nothing from the heart of downtown Midland.

Also, you have a lease on the land but would like me to go into business with you?  You already own the land! Oh, would I provide the TV station, building, equipment, employees and so on?  Let me rent a couple PODS and I’ll be right there.

How do these things work?  I’ve seen writing jobs that want someone to leave posts, comments and whatnot on various sites to stir up interest in whatever the commodity includes.  Not to diminish the importance of my site at all, but what the hell does my site have to do with any sort of shady online business propositions?  Besides my own of course.  You sir fail at being shady.

And in closing.  If any of you feel I went too far by including the details of this offer in my post.  This person contacted me, anonymously, through a comment left on my site.  Not through email, snail mail, phone, etc.  Random commenting and that’s it.  This public exposure is getting off light.
