They turned up here and there in North American media, with a spike just before the Fox TV movie in 1996, and occasional glimpses after, particularly in animation. The Fourth Doctor was in an episode of the Simpsons in early 1996.
A friend of mine acted as an extra on this. He said that the set was full of so many monsters that it was like a dream come true but that the Daleks especially made an impact. ‘THEY WERE HUGE!’ he insisted. I’m still jealous to this day.
