The show starts with Mr McMahon coming out and informing the crowd that Bret Hart wont be here tonight due to the NXT attack last week on Raw. McMahon will meet with Bret’s representatives to decide when Bret will return. Vince says hi to Drew, then leaves.
Thoughts:
Almost a year of the guest host concept passed without having a Raw GM at any of the PPVs. So what does it matter if Bret misses tonight?
Also, I think we’ll find out that Drew has been making up a lot of the stuff that he says Mr McMahon tells him. Either Vince doesn’t care or he’s impressed with Drew’s moxie and lets it slide. Eventually it will catch up to Drew and then we’ll see the fall of the Chosen One.
Kofi Kingston retains the IC title after Teddy Long refuses to make a 3 count for Drew, Matt Hardy hits a Twist of Fate on Drew, and finally Kofi hits Trouble in Paradise.
Thoughts:
Kofi continues to come up with new moves every time. His float through Drew’s clothesline attempt and into a DDT was amazing. And that wasn’t even the finish! Drew gets better every time out. In a couple years when he’s champion (if it takes that long) these matches will show little things that make him the future star.
Maryse vs. Gail Kim vs. Alicia Fox vs. Eve Torres (Divas championship)
Eve hits a neckbreaker and a moonsault onto Maryse. Alicia sneaks in and throws Eve out of the ring, so Alicia can pin Maryse. New Divas champion.
Thoughts:
Just to be a whore for hits, Maryse had a wardrobe malfunction during this match. Its barely there and you’d have to really have nothing better to do with your life in order to find it. Which is why we have the internet. So lets throw the barely able to see anything picture up here.
Excellent job by the announcers getting over the No DQ, no count out rules in a Fatal 4 Way match. It was subtle, no one thought it mattered, and then we had the main event.
Alicia Fox? Really? My only hope is that putting the belt on a heel means that the currently face Gail Kim can finally win the Divas championship. Its like WWE is purposely keeping her away from the belt.
Chris Jericho vs. Evan Bourne
Super Bourne survives the Code Breaker and the Walls of Jericho. Evan then jumps 6 feet straight up to take Jericho over with a hurracanrana. Evan hits Air Bourne to pick up the pin.
Thoughts:
There could be two good things going on here. One, elevating Evan Bourne to near main event status. I’d say there’s no way WWE would push a small guy right now, but see the next match. Two, Jericho keeps asking himself why its not working. His usual finishers aren’t working to pick up the victories. This could lead to yet another re-invention of Chris Jericho. Its been a couple years since he killed off Y2J, maybe its time for the next step.
Big Show vs. CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Jack Swagger (World championship match)
Kane comes out, CM Punk runs away. Rey hits 619 and a splash on Jack Swagger for the pin. New World champion.
Thoughts:
Punk and Rey have solid chemistry in any kind of match. This time they showed they can click as a team as well. When all the SES stories are over I’d love to see a newly face turned Punk team up with Rey. Tons of great spots by all the guys. Big Show was very under used. Kane was pointless, but that’s been the direction of his career for a while. Never expected to see Rey with the belt again. Very curious where this will go.
The Miz (US) vs. R-Truth
Truth goes for a roll up. Miz sits down into it. Miz gets the pin.
Thoughts:
Yeah, the match happened. That’s about it. Not the best match these two have had in the last month. Bring back Daniel Bryan.
Hart Dynasty (tag champions) vs. Usos with Tamina
Natalya hits Tamina with a discus clothesline for the pin.
Thoughts:
Spot of the match was Tyson Kidd getting Samoan dropped into the ring barricade. Tyson was awesome in the entire match. Almost like he had a veteran presence out there. Which, considering the rest of the guys ring time, would be correct. Usos did well, but as they’re still new I would have liked to seen more offense from them. So far I don’t have the “oh shit, someone’s about to get fucked up” vibe I should be getting from a Samoan team. Like when 3 Minute Warning showed up. Yeah, I went there.
Edge vs. Randy Orton vs. Sheamus vs. John Cena (WWE Championship)
NXT crew comes out, attacks everything. Cena goes down fighting. In the chaos Sheamus sneaks in and pins Cena. New WWE Champion.
Thoughts:
Best use of a ref bump to further plot. Sheamus pushes the ref out of the way to break up a three count, and is not disqualified for it. The audience has it reinforced that the match wont stop because of a DQ. Which is exactly what should have happened when NXT showed up. Somehow this seemed more chaotic than the first night NXT showed up. Tonight they looked like a swarm of locus, attacking everything in their path. Leaving nothing untouched. Sheamus looks to be stealing Edge’s title of the ultimate opportunist. The entire Raw main event level is destroyed in one motion, and its champion runs away scared. If Superman is defeated, and then the one who defeats Superman runs off scared, how bad is this new threat? Cena is the WWE’s Superman and he just fell.

Just saw the Maryse pics up at finduu.com/watch17420 and you get a pretty good view of her 😉
I have to say I really enjoy your site,
the way you write is awe inspiring!
