Welcome once again to the almost every year post that people look forward to the most. This year is a little different because my son has been showing interest in football during playoff time. He’s picked the Seahawks to win tonight, but we’ll see how late he stays up. So football will be on some screen in this house, but why break with tradition?

Speaking of tradition there are rules that have to be followed here. One, any alternative programming chosen has to start and end within the current scheduled time for the SuperBowl, which right now is 6-10:15. Two, only options over regular network TV or cable count. No streaming services, no on demand options. Three, a marathon counts as one pick. I cannot use multiple episodes on the same channel as multiple choices. But, if the marathon goes beyond the official time of the SuperBowl I can still count the episodes within the official time. However, and there was confusion over this last year, the same show on different channels can count more than once. Or if the same show is on the same channel but other shows air in between, they can be multiple selections. Finally, this has to be something I would actually watch at any point during the year. I cannot pick a show just to pick a show. I can’t pretend to suddenly be the biggest fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race for example. (Nothing against it, but I’ve never seen a second of the show.)
