Hello everyone, and welcome to my first non At Odds with Wrestling homework post in…awhile. I wrote a book review in April, and other than some quick silly posts it’s been since October 2022. I’ve been appearing on the Pop Culture Pub podcast and Thrift Store Horde. But really, it became impossible to write. If I had the time, I didn’t have the energy, and if I had the energy I didn’t have the time. This also meant I didn’t exercise, I didn’t eat right, I felt tired all the time. I was stressed and exhausted and not doing anything to improve that. As I finally turn that around I turn to my often neglected writing. I should know by now, I feel better when I write. I feel out of practice (other than homework of course) and I’ve said all of this before but I’m going to try to hold myself publicly accountable.
First of all, I rearranged a few things on the site. The main page lists all of the recent things I’ve done or am currently doing. Then a link there or on the top takes readers to the blog posts. I’ll be reaching out to other sites to get my words back out there again.
I’m also going to change the focus of the Patreon. The Patreon will unlock any “mature” links. Pretty much any time I want to discuss something in detail that has an adult rating. I’ll continue taking “trashy” manga, comics, and other works and deep diving to find quality and legitimacy to the titles. All of that is only $1 a month, which is just a nominal amount to protect the content.
I’ve said it hundreds of times but social media is not worth the time. I’m in two groups that have better discussion than the big platforms these days. By all means, I’ll post links and I would love to see shares or have a conversation. But I got online to write something that exists beyond me, not to doom scroll all day long.
So, give me ideas and suggestions. I’m not going to write random reviews unless it’s part of something else. Nothing against Super Awesome Man #588 but my thoughts aren’t going to be worth a dedicated post for every issue. I’ve loved telling stories, doing research and deep dives, reflecting on anniversaries, all of that stuff. I’ll do more here but I would love to get out there on other sites again too.
Finally, dammit, I’m going to be a published comic writer. I’ve had one short story in an anthology and that’s it so far. I’ve been writing online since 2007. I should have accomplished more by now. Let’s make it happen.
Thank you for sticking with me through ups and downs, frequent name changes, and a far too long lull in writing. This isn’t the first time I said I’m rededicated, but hopefully it’s the last one.
