That’s right, Bobby Drake of the X-Men.  In All New X-Men #40 Iceman comes out as gay.  One of the original X-Men, but not the original Iceman.  Confused?

I said this isn’t about you!

Anyways, the X-Men debuted in the 1960’s.  That Iceman started out as a teenage superhero and over the decades is now an adult in the comics and identifies as straight.

However, a couple years ago the Marvel Universe had a big fracture of time and alternate universes and all that crazy stuff which caused those original X-Men from the 1960’s to be brought forward into present time.  So the original five teenage X-Men are now in present day where there adult counter parts also reside.  I didn’t say any of this was simple.  This time displaced teenage Bobby Drake came out of the closet this week when his teammate Jean Grey read his mind and outed him.  However, the adult Iceman is still straight.  Even though they’re the same person.  But not.  I remind you that I never said this was simple.

Point being yay for Marvel and mutants and however the hell the Fox movies will or wont factor into this.  Some characters tell their creators who they are and Bobby Drake has been there telling writers he’s gay.  It just took this long to listen.

Although there are some who may say that the adult Iceman is in fact gay as well.
