Two days after Valentine’s Day and we have finally packed up every bit of Christmas decor.
Its not our fault. I mean, its not anyone else’s fault either. Not like someone was preventing us or we had a bet or some sort of obligation to keep things up longer. Well, someone prevented us.
Its awfully tough to do certain things with a toddler running around. Very few of us have an easy conveinent place to store our decorations. Up to the attic or down to the basement or into the shed and around the crawl space. Ours is in this odd hallway space above the stairs. I have to shimmy along a guard railing and lean over to grab at boxes that aren’t in any order. That means usually I bring in every box and most of them aren’t needed thus I’m creating more work for myself.
Then there’s the child who wants to run out in this same hallway area and make his first big boy tumble down the stairs. The secret is to do anything out in the hallway while he’s asleep.
But dammit I just want to have two minutes to myself and then go to bed when he’s asleep. So now we’re at nap time. Nap time has become the time Mommy and Daddy get their work outs in (actual work outs not, y’know) then shower then get lunch cooked and dinner prepped and is that a baby we hear? Yup. He woke up. No time for anything else now.
Today a blessing came upon us. He took a short nap. About half the length of the usual. Which meant a second nap was needed. Second nap! Meals were already taken care of. Workouts were done. Who knew the next opportunity? We jumped on it and finally took apart the tree and packed up all the decorations. It was a Christmas miracle!
