Butterfinger Ditches Wholesome Simpsons and Gets Dirty.

Remember when The Simpsons was a controversial show?  I recall not being allowed to wear Bart Simpson shirts in grade school gym class because those square adults saw him as the corruption of youth.  Seems silly today but there were even those who were mad that Bart was being used to advertise a wholesome thing like Butterfinger candy bars.

Oh the days of The Simpsons will be much missed.

Recently we were out shopping at Wal-Mart and saw this large display for Butterfinger.

Butterfingers:  Chocolate, peanut butter, crunch, and experimental homosexuality.

I thought, it must be a one time joke right?  There’s no way a candy bar of all things would try to be “edgy”.

I should never underestimate the lengths companies will go to in order to make just a little bit more money.

This is a whole new world for Butterfinger.  It started with the Wal-Mart display and continues with this…

But the real kicker is that this is tame.  How many of you remember “Follow the Finger”?

Tell the world what your buttery finger has been up to.  Just call the “Finger Fun Hotline” at (866) 8-FINGER, where you can leave a message for the finger or listen to other people’s messages. (“Listen closely. Our options are always changing, because the finger likes variety.”)

What dirty finger doesn’t like to spice things up once in awhile?
