Holiday Cereals.

Hey remember December?  No this isn’t a V for Vendetta sequel.  Remember remember the 25th of December?

Anyways, I bought some of those limited edition cereals, took a bunch of pictures, and then did nothing with them.  As long as I’m playing catch up on the blog what better time for you to enjoy my take on these cereals then when you cant buy them.  Ah well, maybe this will be a perennial piece and build up anticipation for next Christmas.

We’ll start off with Sugar Cookie Toast Crunch and Holiday Sprinkles Cookie Crisp.  Spoiler alert, one is far far better than the other.

I’m sorry but the Holiday Sprinkles just weren’t that good.  I mean, its cereal and its sugar and unless you’re buying the most generic cereal from the worst grocery store its kind of tough to go wrong there.  Take a look at the bowl.

It is some nice looking cereal.  But in the end it just came out so boring.  A little too crunchy and in that scratchy Cap’n Crunch way.  It did make for some tasty milk though.

The Sugar Cookie Toast Crunch however was amazing.  Name aside, as I don’t believe I’ve ever seen sugar cookie toast, this cereal could be called anything they wanted.  Christmas Goodness for example.

I used to buy cinnamon bread and toast it.  Then, fresh out of the toaster, I would put butter on it.  Right away so it melts just right.  Then in that perfect moment right as its cooling but still hot enough I would sprinkle the whole thing with sugar.  It was divine.  That monumental mouth feel is captured in this bowl of heaven.

Check it out.  So crisp and delicious.  This was one of my favorite things to eat this past holiday season.  Tasty and with a Yankee Candle deserving aroma fresh from the box.  I know French Toast Crunch is coming back but I would take that empty shelf spot and switch it out for a year round Sugar Cookie Toast Crunch.

The boxes also had a very cute Christmas scene on the back.  Presents and gifts and cereal mascots a plenty.

I know its a little late and there’s little chance these cereals are still on the shelf of your local store.  In the off chance they are I suggest picking them up.  At least to try.  Be sure to grab them next holiday season.  Only three hundred and something something days away!

  1. Sadly, these never made it to the stores around here. I haven’t liked Cookie Crisp since they changed their recipe, so it’s no surprise that the Holiday Sprinkles weren’t that good. That Sugar Cookie Toast Crunch though, now that’s a cereal I’d like to get my hands on.

I always thought it was odd that they got rid of the chefs, instead turning the Toast Crunch pieces into vicious anthropomorphic cereal creatures. It’s almost like they’re trying to scare the kids away.
