This has been a rough rough year for geek blogs. So many of my fellow writers of nerdy topics have closed up their browsers and walked away from the computer.
I have an app on my iPod that loads up every site I want and constantly gives me new posts to read. Some times its been up to 400 articles ready to read. And I love it.
But this year blogger after blogger stopped writing. Some have officially left, others are collecting dust and leave readers wondering when if ever they will return.
RIP to Poe Ghostal, Lair of the Dork Horde, and now Cold Slither among others.
These sites have dozens if not hundreds of awesome posts. Brilliant writing and beautiful pictures. Information that unfortunately may go away. A URL could expire. A web host could auto delete any account not signed into for over a year. And then all of that geeky information is gone.
This is a very long way to bring up the title of this post.
Someone needs to become the Vince McMahon of blogging.
Vince, owner of WWE, bought out his competition. All trademarks and most importantly video became part of his empire. Now we have DVDs and merchandise and the WWE Network to feature these libraries.
So step up retired bloggers and tell how much you would like for your intellectual property. Give the World Wide Blogging network all of your posts and pictures. Work out some details, have all of the posts lists you as the author and link to whatever your current project is. Instagram or Pinterest or what have you.
Every one ends up happy. This new uber site would gain more readers, get more hits, and your legacy will live on.
So who will step up?
And yes, this is also all a round about way of saying if no one does I would love all this content for myself.
teamhellions(at)gmail for details.
