A few months ago I received an email to review this new series that also tested the waters of having original comics on Amazon Studios.  Back in March this series ended and I thought it was a good time to look back at it.

This comic was originally a screenplay and then adapted into the comic format.  That explains a lot.  Its about as good as a B movie.  Mysterious stranger rides a horse through the country during the Civil War and finds all manner of paranormal trouble.  He meets a woman and fights monsters.  But really there isn’t much more to it.

The story is fun but overall forgettable.  The art channels Mike Mignola a bit too much and considering the story, that comparison becomes even more obvious.

Its also easy to compare it to another screenplay turned comic book for attention – Cowboys and Aliens.  A bubble gum read and hopes for a movie with the staying power and enjoyment of bubble gum.

I would love to write a longer review of the book but the previous three issues were reviewed in full elsewhere on the site.  Looking back on the title as  a whole my opinion has changed from being positive on the potential of the story to being apathetic to the completed tale.
