In the second issue of ReincarNATE, we’re left with a lot of questions, and one unique man who averted death, with three sides to himself. Nate is out of the hospital, and people still can’t believe, after two days, he’s still able to walk on two feet. He walks around with that bandage, a little bit of blood bleeding through, in the impression of a hole. It certainly adds to the shock value of Nate’s character, but considering the people he’s dealing with, it doesn’t mean that much. Still, to the reader, it’s a great aesthetic.

As Nate begins to piece things together in this issue, he knows he has to go to the top to get answers, and he’s not above using questionable methods to get there. We’re introduced to El Panda in this issue, and at first glance you wouldn’t suspect this guy as a crime king pin, instead he looks like an 80’s knock off, the bowling wizard he claims to be for sure, but the funny thing is that he cuts an intimidating figure. Jameson and Alan – Nate’s reincarnated past – play a role here; El Panda isn’t the guy, which leads the story in a direction that isn’t quite clear, and with two issue left, it’s a wonder who the linchpin is.

The highlight of the issue is Alan’s back story. The tale of a 60’s accountant who didn’t quite fit the mold and tried to break out. Moreci connects the reincarnated pasts by showing how certain character traits are passed from person to person. Alan, through Jameson’s past, was a paranoid man, obsessed with looking behind his back. Eventually, his path led him down the road as a hit-man, though he tried to rectify this later in life. Alan’s role in this book is that of a man still trying to rectify the past as only he can, by helping Nate get his man.

This issue ends with intensity and adrenaline, another shooting, though this time averted. The set up for the third part will surely be intense as Nate and Autumn chase after the person who tried to kill them. ReincarNATE continues to amaze; the story never gets dull, the characters continue to gain depth, and as were on the verge of Jameson’s back story, the book continues to move in mysterious ways. If you’re not checking it out, I can only ask why, because you’re missing out on something great.
