Holy crap is this good!
Whatever your worries may have been upon the end of Amazing Spider-Man, worry no more. This is going to be a ground breaking and inspiring tale of both Peter Parker and Otto Octavius. But first…
Big Wheel! You have got to be kidding me. Combing the depths of Marvel Universe characters. Oh that was brilliant.
Speaking of brilliant, this is going to be one of the best Spider-Man stories of all time. Otto’s mind may not be better than Peter’s but the ways in which he applies that intellect are. Peter never had the ego. Otto believes himself to be better than all and will go about showcasing that. What better and more public way than to do so in the very public guise of Spider-Man.
The new tricks that Dan Slott comes up with here shows that no matter how many years a character has been around there is always room for a fresh coat of paint. There is always something new to discover. The talons or claws or whatever you want to call them were inspired. But to take that even further, nano spider tracers, is going to be one of the more dumbfounded moments of the year. And its only January. Former Spider-Man writer after former Spider-Man writer is going to read this book today and ask themselves why they didn’t think of this.
“Proportionate speed of a spider”. It has been said for decades, but what did that actually mean? Now we know. It means doing the impossible in 9 seconds.
Speaking of impossible, is it possible for comic book readers to lust after Mary Jane more? Yes it most certainly is because in one great scene in a book full of great scenes Otto isn’t just seeing the world through Peter’s eyes, he’s seeing something in the exact way every single woman loving reader would be experiencing that moment.
Finally the ending. He’s there. He wont go away. Somehow someway our beloved real Peter Parker will come back from his most crushing defeat. It may take months or even years, but we’re only at the beginning of this long story and by the end we fans may just be blessed with the most superior story ever told in four colors.
