This third volume of the Assassin’s Creed tale continues all that is loved from the first two books. The action is incredible, with some of the most complicated and beautiful battles ever put on the comic book page. The story is everything you wanted from Da Vinci Code or National Treasure but, you know, good.
Volume three stars Desmond understanding more of this centuries long battle he now finds himself in the middle of. Aquilus wants to avenge his father’s murder but finds the enigma of the Ankh instead. This Ankh expands the possibilities for the Assassin’s Creed world. Then there is Accipiter. The barbarian with his own strong code of honor that leads him down the more dangerous paths in life.
This Assassin’s Creed universe has locked the doors of the car and graciously made sure I put the seat belt on first. It just does not stop. The conversations between Desmond and Lucy would be enough. Instead the readers are gifted with the ancient world, with betrayals and best of all with these two groups fighting for world dominance. Now word comes out that a fourth book is due anytime now and flu shots will be needed to handle this fever pitch.
The three books have been so enjoyed within Casa Hellions that we had to run down to Game Stop and pick up most of the video games. That’s right, comics bringing new customers into the video game stores. Hopefully these three (soon to be four) books bring new eyes into comic book stores around the world.
(Team Hellions was provided with a review copy from Titan Books.)
