Top 4 of Superstars 12/13/12

Well if Brodus Clay vs. Michael McGillicutty wasn’t a colossal waste of time. First fighting to be able to load the match took longer than being able to watch it. Damn all of these Raw recaps. Look, McMahon, if you can’t find time to tape a longer show then you’re doing something wrong with your time. I’m not watching Superstars without having seen Raw. You know Raw is the go-to show. Stop it.

A nod to Slater, though, who didn’t just stand idly by on the sidelines this week as Jinder Mahal & Drew McIntyre took on Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel.

4. Jinder Mahal

Mahal and Rollins this week was a snore fest this week. He was a completely different person this week on Superstars. Maybe those three weeks since actually filming NXT improved him? Or maybe having a stronger opponent helped. Either way I could watch this match again and again and he was a definite part of that.

3. Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel

Well hello my favorite high flyers. Thank you for being incredible wrestlers. These two make up my second favorite tag team, but my favorite when it comes to wrestling skill. (Look, don’t nitpick me about my tag team loves, just go with this). Kidd and Gabriel never stop moving during this match, even when they are not the opponent in the ring, and it keeps the action flowing. For 7:38 they made a match heaven, but…

2. Drew McIntyre

McIntyre might be my favorite of the four wrestlers who took on this match. He is a diverse wrestler who can wrestle well with the bigger men in a ground and pound pace while meeting up with Gabriel and Kidd at their own quickened pace. The man deserves to be higher up than WWE treats him, but for now we can be grateful because we get to see him in matches like this one.

1. Scott Stanford & Matt Striker

If it wasn’t for these two I wouldn’t even have been able to sit through less than three minutes of Brodus Clay and Michael McGillicutty. The two go out there and have fun with the matches, talking up the wrestlers and taking care to pay attention to what’s happening. I can’t say much I haven’t said about these two before, but I love them as a tandem and wish these two were on a show the world was watching and not the delegated internet show that McMahon just seems afraid to get rid of.

Scott’s three best lines of the week:

“Are these guys ever going to come out with a song?”

“He got pulled over for driving while funk, believe it or not.”

“What does a dentist get at the end of the year? A little plaque.”
