The Smarked for Death Wrestling Review of TNA Impact Wrestling 11/22/12.

I know Brooke, I’m shocked I’m watching TNA as well.

YouTube week continues here on Team Hellions as I’m getting all caught up on wrestling through each group’s official YouTube channel.  This makes things go by a lot quicker, as there are no commercials, no entrance music and no filler.  Just the finishes to matches and any story line progression.

Now it sucks if you want to watch a good match and enjoy the craft.  But when there are near 100 hours of wrestling during the week its a convenient way to stay in the loop.

So lets see what TNA has for us tonight.  Oh look, its an Open Fight Night.

Wes Briscoe Gets a Gut Check from Garett Bischoff.

Wes is actually a really good wrestler but who is on the Gut Check side here?  If anything Wes should be the one seeing if Garrett can hang.

Garrett isn’t doing too bad here but he’s damn sure not leading the match.  So not only is Wes talented, but he can carry a match too. If he can cut a promo too I expect lots of money to be made.  Wes is definitely hanging back.  He tries to struggle but its clear he’s much better than Garrett.  Wes rolls up Bisch and becomes the first Gut Check challenger to pin a TNA wrestler.  It wont be his last pin in TNA I’m sure.

Joey Ryan Calls out Chavo Guerrero on Open Fight Night.

Joey is called the “sleazy superstar” and I cant think of a more appropriate nickname.  Everything about him screams this is a man you don’t want around your daughter.  One of the best characters in all of wrestling today.  Sure, its Rick Rude, but more pornographic and less stripper.

Why are there three announcers and two of them are play by play guys?  This makes very little sense.  Is Mike Tenay looking to step aside?

Chavo fights back and may have had the match won but Joey’s new tag team partner, Matt Morgan comes out and choke slams Chavo.  Joey is DQ’ed and Hernandez chases off Morgan.  Not too bad but I want to see Joey go longer.  And for $19,99 a month I can.

Sam Shaw Faces Alex Silva for Open Fight Night.

Alright so Sam Shaw is a more recent Gut Check winner and Silva won the first one.  Not a bad way to make a name for yourself.  If you lose, then you only lost to a “rookie” but if you win then that must mean you’re better than the first Gut Check winner and deserve all of his opportunities.

Its a fine independent match but neither man is is showing me that It Factor that deserves to be shown on the national level.  Shaw comes off the top and gets the win.  Again, not a bad match but neither man made me want to buy a ticket like another former Gut Check competitor, Joey Ryan, did.

Christian York Calls Out a Champion for Open Fight Night.

Christian York takes on current TNA World champion, Jeff Hardy.  Well York has balls because he hits a Twist of Fate on its trademark owner.  Any wrestler or booker that allows that sees money in Christian York.  York does a great job in the ring and I’m starting to believe in him as well.  He oversells a bit though.  York is about the same size as Jeff, and might even have more muscle but he bounces like a 7 footer is attacking him.

Jeff hits a Swanton for the pin, and no one is really surprised that York doesn’t win the title here or anything.  But Christian had a damn good showing and I fully expect him to be wearing gold during 2013.

Christian and Jeff show some mutual respect but while Hardy celebrates his win Bobby Roode sneaks in and takes out both York and Hardy.  Roode has upped his spear lately too.   That might be the most devastating version of it I’ve seen.

Taeler Hendrix Has Something to Prove on Open Fight Night .

Taeler has a fantastic look.  From the bright red hair to the purple gear, she stands out among the Knockouts.  Its also enough color to get a casual channel flipper to stop on TNA.  Now lets see how well she can wrestle.  Unfortunately, she’s in there with one of the greatest women wrestlers of all time, Tara.

Tara goes to kiss her reality show boy toy and that’s the opportunity Taeler needs.  Hendrix also looks to be popping out of her top, so again I say channel flipper would stay.  Boy toy guy (and I should learn his name) distracts Taeler but Hendrix is pretty smart.  She avoids Tara’s sneak attack and almost scores a three count by capitalizing on that mistake.

Hendrix gets smacked around a bit by Tara and sells it damn well.  She doesn’t just fall or sell a move with her body, she brings in expressions which is so rare and yet adds so much.  When you look loopy the fans will believe the move knocked you loopy.  It gets over everyone.

Tara gets the win but everyone did a great job of getting Taeler over with the fans.  Hopefully there’s more of her to come.

And the Winner of the Turkey Bowl is….

Eric Young vs. Robbie E vs. Mr Pec-Tacular.

Tara, ODB and Robbie T are all at ringside.

Holy crap Tara’s guy wrestles?  I mean I still cant tell if he’s any good but he’s out there.  Everyone at ringside gets involved and that’s enough to confuse the referee.  Wrestling booking says that a heel should win in a dastardly way now but Eric outsmarts everyone and gets a roll up on Pecs for the win.  Well that was some fun and unexpected booking.

Are EY and ODB still the Knockouts tag team champions?  Does that belt still exist?

Jesse, Mr Pecs, has to wear a turkey suit as punishment for losing this match.  Its unknown if Hector Guerrero is in the building.

Tara and Pecs leave so EY and ODB can celebrate but Aces and Eights run in to take out Eric just in time for him to film season two of his fishing show.

Kazarian Calls Out AJ Styles for Open Fight Night,

I’ve been in and out of watching TNA for most of this year but I’m surprised that Kaz and AJ are still feuding.  Not as surprised as I was to see Kaz bust out Gangham Style.  When these two started feuding no one had heard that song yet.  And now most people are sick of it.  That’s how long they’ve been battling.

Kaz pushes the referee, the ref pushes back and this throws Kaz off his game enough that he doesn’t anticipate the Pele kick coming, not the pin that follows it.  I’m anxiously anticipating an end to this story so both men can go on to freshen up their characters.

Austin Aries Confronts Brooke Hogan About Bully Ray.

I don’t even know where this is going to go, but the title alone makes me squirm.  Austin calls out Brooke and runs down her dad.  AA is tired of hearing Hogan’s name in every arena.  Aries tells Brooke she probably wants to get away from that name and its shadow as well.  Austin then spins it and accuses Brooke of having a relationship with Bully Ray.

Is WWE and TNA doing love stories featuring former world champions at the same time?  If TNA created Impact Films I wonder if they and WWE Films would both come out with asteroid movies at the same time.

Austin shows footage of Brooke spending time with Bully Ray but its all circumstantial.  Hulk Hogan comes out to defend his daughter’s honor but Bully Ray runs right past him and after Austin.  A Double bails out of the ring.  I just want to point out that Bully Ray ran faster than Hulk Hogan.  Either Hogan is now that old or Bully is now that fit.  Take your pick.

Everyone stands there and looks at each other and looks dumb to close out the show.  If you’re interested in these wrestling love stories, watch Raw.  At least the girl is attractive in that one.
