Charismagic: Sparkles from Aspen Comics Review.

From Aspen Comics, Vince Hernandez, Siya Oum, Josh Reed.

Months ago I fell in love with a comic book character.  Straight out of the pages of the hit Aspen Comics mini series, Charismagic comes the scene stealing fuzzy form of Sparkles.  This beautiful little furball leaped off the page and into my heart.  A feat not accomplished by any other “pet” or animal in comics.  Sorry Ms Lion.

Charismagic: Sparkles is a special digital only one shot from the fine folks at Aspen Comics.  Not only is it a great read, but its for a good cause as well.  The proceeds of this title will go to the Make a Wish Foundation.  And the book is only 99 cents.  So for under a dollar you get a good read, straight to your tablet of choice, and support a good cause.

Plus its a fantastic book!  Vince must have a cat, he has to.  He captures the grace, the nobility, the array of innermost thoughts our feline friends have every moment they’re not sleeping.  (So, an hour or two of the day.)  A huge part of this is thanks to the incredible work of Siya.  I have said it before, and I will continue to, there is no one who draws emotions better than Siya Oum.  The best eyes in the business.  I’ve read entire graphic novels that contain less soul than one panel of Siya’s.  Speaking of souls, whether its the soul, the Force, or magic, the sides of good and evil are brought out by Josh’s great lettering work.  The captions give this tale a legendary quality.  The evil that Sparkles encounters is so much creepier thanks to his choices in font and colors.

There really is no excuse to not buy the title.  Great story, great art, and a worthy cause.  I’ll be front in center, in store or digitally, for any future appearance from my new favorite magical black cat.  (Its over between us Felicia.)
