The Smarked for Death Wrestling Review for CM Punk on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

What?!  Yes this is a strange and different edition to the Smarked for Death series, but I’m watching it and thus you have to read about it.

Jimmy Fallon treated CM Punk like a celebrity.  Not a wrestler, not someone who he was forced to have on the show as part of the NBC Universal synergy.  No, Punk was treated like he was there because he is a famous person that Jimmy Fallon wanted on his show.  The wrestling community thanks you for that Jimmy.

Fallon would also be a great guest ring announcer for any Raw, Smackdown or pay per view.  He gave Punk a hero’s entrance and showed a knowledge for the CM Punk gimmick.  From calling him the “Second City Saint” to yelling out “Its Clobberin’ Time!”  Fallon delivered an entrance befitting of a champion.  Also, lets give it up for the Roots who played a great cover of Cult of Personality during this entrance.  By the way, where did Punk  appear from?  He rose up through the crowd and was bathed in smoke and fire.  Damn impressive and he hasn’t even gotten to the guest’s chair yet.

CM Punk comes across very well.  The audience laughed at the list of nicknames and insults he gives other wrestlers.  He trends on Twitter, and this crowd knows what an accomplishment that is for anyone.  Punk then tells great stories and there is not a doubt in my mind he gained new fans this night.  A goofy looking kid chasing a turkey at a gas station can only lead to people falling in love with this story teller.

Jimmy Fallon then becomes another milestone in CM Punk’s life.  It is Punk’s first appearance on a late night talk show, and it leads to the first dual snow angels of Punk’s career.  Hey, you don’t need to have a headlock applied in order to have a  memorable physical interaction with a professional wrestler.  CoughRichardBelzerCough.

CM Punk looked good, WWE looked good, the 1000th Raw was put over.  Jimmy Fallon was a wonderful and respectful host.  Kudos to WWE and NBC for this one.
