Soulfire Primer Advance Review from Aspen Comics.

What if I told you that there was a comic book which featured magic, fairies, dragons, future tech and more.  Plus the whole story fits nicely within the list of heroic journeys.  There are twists and turns, rebirths and deaths inside.  If all of this sounds exciting then you must buy the Soulfire Primer on Wednesday June 20th.  Available anywhere good comics are sold (on paper or digitally).

For only a dollar you get a full comic featuring the best artists and writers from the history of the Soulfire title.  Michael Turner, Joe Benitez, JT Krul, Jeph Loeb and more.

Magic ruled the world, and was the world’s greatest power.  With any great power, there will eventually arise someone to use that power for evil desires.  Rainier rose up and due to his wicked ways, magic disappeared.  The world was reborn with steel and fossil fuels and plastics.  But magic did not die, it only hid.  Magic begins to rise, Rainier mounts his come back and thankfully for the rest of the world a chosen one has been found.  Malikai must be taught how to be a hero, because in the end he will be the only hero who can successfully defeat evil.

From there more friends and enemies are added and this becomes an expansive story.  There are many reveals, both of the world and for characters that we thought we knew.  It is a perfect book for new comic book fans.  If your child loves the long rich story arcs on cartoons like Avatar, Legend of Korra, One Piece, Naruto and the recently cancelled Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes then Soulfire is the perfect book for them.  Its perfect for any adult who loves series like those or more adult fare such as Game of Thrones.

Had I known all of this was going on in Soulfire I would have started reading it years ago.  This one dollar Primer will lead to much more money being spent.  I for one will be hunting through back issues to read these previous Soulfire books in full.  If the thought of reading an epic fantasy tale intrigues you, put aside an extra dollar right now and buy this book on Wednesday with any other comic books you plan on getting.

It is a world of magic, but the real magic is on the page.  Some of the best writing and art in all of comics today.  A huge story that only gets better as it continues and becomes larger.  Also, a beautiful tribute to Michael Turner, to see these characters he created live on and grow.
