Well, that title is a bit of a cheat.

So, lets catch some of you up to speed here.  This week, the League of Extraordinary Bloggers was asked to pick our top 10 movies.  You can check out all the links to all the blogs at the official Cool and Collected site.

I then took it upon myself to come up with a master top 10.  With a few self imposed rules.  One, the movies had to appear on a best of all time top 10.  Thus no movies you haven’t seen, best monkeys, best villains, or 1980s only lists.  Two, I did this in one draft so there is the possibility my numbers are off.  Maybe a very good chance of it.  If so, let me know about it and I’ll go in to edit this article.

Also, there are more than 10 movies here.  They are ranked by number of times they appeared on the lists mentioned above, and then listed in random order.  Except for the big two that ran away with this.

So here are the picks for the greatest movies in all of geek-dom.

With two votes each:

Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, High Fidelity, The Karate Kid, Goodfellas, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Ghostbusters, The Avengers, and Die Hard.

With three votes each:

A Christmas Story, Back to the Future, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, The Raiders of the Lost Ark.  (Put an asterisk in here for Kevin Smith.  Clerks, Clerks II, and Mallrats were all mentioned.  All three bloggers also said they debated on other films from him and were tempted to include them instead.  All mentioned being big fans of his work.  However, in the end they are three separate movies.)
