Here is a look at Loki’s staff, the “Loki pokey” stick as it has been called.

Oh.  Now what is the gem on the end of that?  Well, current speculation has it being the Mind Gem from the Infinity Gauntlet.

Which is held by Thanos, usually.

So… yeah…. here is what this means for non comic book reading people.

In the Marvel Universe there are six gems which can control certain aspects of the universe.  When joined together, the possessor of these gems becomes damn near all powerful.  A god.  Thanos once collected all of them, put them together on a glove (or gauntlet) and killed half the universe.  Just for openers.

Was a damn good series.

So, at the end of Loki’s staff, that is most definitely a blue gem.

What does a blue Infinity gem do?

Its the Mind gem.

“It allows the user to greatly strengthen and enhance mental and psionic power and access the thoughts and dreams of other beings. Backed by the Power Gem, the Mind Gem can access all minds in existence simultaneously.”

The staff, with possible gem on it, was given to Loki from the mysterious figure in the Avengers movie.  And since we’re nearing $300 million state side alone for the movie, lets assume you’ve seen it.  The mysterious figure who already has one infinity gem, possibly, is Thanos.

This also exists and was shown off by Marvel at SDCC.

 

All of this adds up to a high possibility we will see this awesome scene in Avengers 2.
