We just don’t know who it will be.  Although, there is much speculation.

Here’s what we know:

Marvel has let comic book retailers know the following, “secured mainstream coverage both on-air and in print, for something that has never been seen inside the pages of a Marvel comic. Not only that, but some retailers are already saving the date and are hosting special wedding events in their stores… This will be an event that will have worldwide mass-media attention, driving customers to your stores. Because of the nature of the event and the promised mass media break, we cannot say who will be tying the knot, but we promise that it will send shockwaves throughout the nation.”

The wedding will take place in Astonishing X-Men #51.  A month earlier, Marvel will be informing the press of a major plot that starts in Astonishing X-Men #50.  The press will be informed May 22, the comic will go on sale May 23.

 

All signs point to this being the wedding of Northstar and Kyle.  You might remember this panel that made national headlines years ago.

Which means that this will be the first gay wedding in a Marvel comic book.  Kevin Keller aside, it will be the first gay wedding in a major comic book.  This will no doubt make national news, debate from 24 hour news channels, and a “Biff Bam Pow Comics aren’t for straights anymore” headline.
