Hey its been a busy week and I’m only just now able to watch Ring of Honor. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good show. Lets get right into it.
The Young Bucks vs. TJ Perkins and Shiloh Jonze.
TJ and Shiloh don’t mesh well. Not that they necessarily should on their first outing. But compared to the Bucks they never had a chance. Two super kicks plus More Bang for Your Buck means the brothers get a big win. That was one hell of a match on the Bucks side and I really want to see them go crazy with another team.
Matt Taven vs. Mike Mondo.
Speaking of a partner you can go all out with, this was an incredible match. I’ve seen Taven live and thought he was good. Mondo never caught my eye. But this match, holy shit. Great heel work (or is it heel?) and great wrestling. Give credit to Taven for toughing out everything Mondo threw at him. Credit to Mondo for wrestling a fantastic match with only one boot. Damn impressed with both men.
Promo video from the press conference in Toronto. Kevin Steen vs. Davey Richards is my pick for Match of the Year. Can. Not. Wait. Excellent mic work from Davey here. He brings in years of story, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. “I’ll go to Japan” was a damn heavy line. Also, the piledriver will be legal in this match! Yeah. Match of the year.
Adam Cole vs. Tommaso Ciampa vs. Mike Bennett vs. Jay Lethal in the March Mayhem Finals. Winner gets $25,000.
Lethal his Lethal Injection to eliminate Bennett. Tommaso runs in not a second later with a knee and takes out Lethal. Cole is still hurt on the outside and this looks like Ciampa’s match. Ciampa runs his knee into Cole’s head not once but twice and on the third time he runs into a super kick. How the hell did Adam Cole get up?!
Ciampa catches a tope attempt and hits a Kryptonite Crunch on the floor. Somehow Cole kicks out! Cole possibly has this match won but Jay Lethal comes back out to get at Tommaso and that screws up everything. Project Ciampa for the final victory.
Its so tough to have four men in a match and tell a story as well. Every single guy has furthered his overall Ring of Honor story arc during the match. Excellent wrestling in the match and tons of false finishes. Its no wonder every other federation in the world, including WWE and TNA, want Ring of Honor guys on their shows.
