Highlights if they could be called such of Bobby Roode’s attack on Dixie Carter. Fire him! There is a logic leap here. If someone actually attacks their boss they should be fired. Roode is not Steve Austin, bringing in millions if not billions of dollars to a company and thus there is debate on whether or not to fire him. Sting comes out while Dixie weighs the pros and cons. Again, no sense in her actions. For some reason Sting’s cadence on tonight’s show reminds me of Edge. Sting says that Roode has to stay so they can all get revenge. The “right kind of revenge”. I guess the wrong kind would be firing him and helping the company move forward with a champion that doesn’t abuse women. Sting says he doesn’t want to be GM anymore because he cant feel alive as GM. The right kind of alive. He cant be a part time GM and part time wrestler. It is so far unknown if he can still be a part. time. lover. You and me Sting!
Sting has the perfect replacement for the GM, Hulk Hogan. You know, the guy that was brought in to do this job but screwed over Dixie and then Sting said he couldn’t be trusted and there were matches and fights and stuff. With this level of story line adn character continuity I fully expect Bobby Roode and Dixie Carter to be hugging in the ring within a year.
Zema Ion vs. Anthony Neese vs. Kid Kash vs. Austin Aries (X Division champion).
Zema is just one bottle of peroxide away from going super Sayian. I was going to put over this match and all the ring work involved. Its been a very fun match. Then Bully Ray comes out to destroy everyone. That’s right, classic TNA booking. When you want to further your main event level B plot, destroy the X division. We’ve seen this before, and will again. Lets sacrifice the best wrestlers on the show for main eventers that wont be as successful.
Some guy from a SpikeTV show called Repo Games comes out to repo Mexican America’s car. This is an actual show? I mean its a reality show so there’s no chance any of it is actually real, but I cant believe people waste time on this. Is Spike going to hype up 1000 Ways to Die on Impact? Here’s one, cut your leg open during a match in TNA.
Sarita and Rosita vs. ODB and Eric Young (Knockouts tag team champions).
I still have having to write Eric Young as a Knockout champion. I have no problem with a woman holding a men’s belt, but a man holding a woman’s belt seems insulting. Oh and they are hyping up the wedding between the two. Of course it will be aired on Impact. Eric Young takes off his pants, so the challengers try to seduce him, which upsets ODB so she kicks some bitches ass. Then ODB argues with EY, kisses him, and throws him on top of another woman. I’ve heard of Southern Style wrestling booking but this is trailer park romance booking. I kinda like it.
Crimson makes fun of Matt Morgan until Morgan comes in to fight. Not really a feud that anyone is dying to see.
Abyss’s “brother” talks to Jeff Hardy. Now this is an angle I’m loving. Its simple, kind of ridiculous, and wonderful. Abyss has been around for so long that there isn’t a lot of places that his character can go anymore. This is an original place.
Wow. That is one well made video featuring the origins of James Storm and Bobby Roode. I actually want to watch some of these old TNA weekly PPVs now.
James Storm comes out and this might be the best promo I’ve ever seen from him. He gets that crowd behind him with such passion they would follow this man anywhere. Cowboy? After this promo he should be dubbed the Redneck Messiah. Storm calls out Roode but Bobby’s stuffy pseudo British lawyer comes out to make matches and get some heel heat. This guy must be a wrestler. Anyone know who he is? I’m all for wrestlers playing non wrestling roles but its better when its not so damn obvious its a wrestler.
Oh this is awful. I cant breathe. Someone save me! Nevermind, its just TNA once again shoving Garrett Bischoff down our throats. Garrett takes on Kurt Angle in a three minute challenge. (Waits for Rosey…. shoot.) No Rosey, no three minute warning, and just no interest in this match at all. Gunner comes out to double team Garrett. Jeff Hardy runs out to make the save. This whole thing is using former world champions to get over Garrett. Not Gunner, who TNA have misused from day one. Nope, lets get over one of the boss’s kids. In “unrelated” news Brooke Hogan sits front row.
Mexican America vs. Samoa Joe and Magnus (TNA tag team champions).
I’m growing to like Samoa Joe and Magnus as a team, but it still feels like a waste of Joe’s talents. A waste of Hernandez too. There’s a guy who should have been a world champ by now. They missed their chance and it would take months to build him back up to that level. The Repo guy comes back out and abducts Sarita and Rosita. Mexican America are distracted and lose the match.
Back in the parking lot Repo Man is about to take their car. But women are the same as cash, so he walks off with Sarita and Rosita. Something wrong just happened.
James Storm vs. Daniels and Kazarian.
Storm destroys his two opponents in far too quick a time. This should be a main event and a long dramatic match. Instead its a squash and it doesn’t build Storm, it buries Daniels and Kaz.
Sting and Dixie agree to let Hogan be GM. Hogan comes out because, well, he hasn’t technically been asked yet. Hogan comes out and… that’s it? The show ends with Sting hyping up the crowd. So Hogan doesn’t say yes or no or anything. If next week is meant to actually be “one week later” in time then what? No one talked to the Hulkster in over a week? Weak ending for the show.
