The Smarked for Death Ring of Honor 2/25/12 Review.

Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander vs. The Young Bucks.

Some of you will remember the Young Bucks as Generation Me from TNA.  You should know them as the most exciting tag team in America.  This was an incredible match.  Fast paced, false finishes, and it showed off what can be done in tag team wrestling that cant be done in singles matches.

Interview segments:  Tomasso, Young Bucks, Briscoe Brothers.  Dem Boys cut a damn good promo.  They must be making pretty good money in ROH because they could make a fortune in WWE.  Not so much in TNA though.  Samoa Joe probably calls them up and says, don’t sign here.  They’ll bury you.

Inside ROH is a great hype video package.  Kevin Steen looks like a beast, and he is.  Not only do I want to see Kevin Steen in a match, I also want to see Jimmy Jacobs in action.  Hell, I want to order old Ring of Honor DVDs so I can see all of these matches and angles that they are referring to.

Jay Lethal (TV champ) vs. Davey Richards (World champ)

Fact:  Three out of four of the current World champions in United States based promotions are former or current Ring of Honor world champions.  Which means I shouldn’t be shocked at all that this was a great match.  Rolling super-plex!  I cant even wrap my mind around how dangerous that move is, and how well executed it must be.  Great brawl at the end that immediately gets across the importance of both belts.  Of course there are personal feuds, but there is also the desire to be the best.

Not to say that there aren’t some flaws.  However, they are few.  I wish the lighting was better.  The product is so incredible, that it needs an equally as incredible presentation.  I know there is a certain charm in looking like the young up and comer.  Less money but more desire.  However, I feel that there are some casual fans who wont take the time to enjoy the show because it doesn’t look as professional as that sports entertainment company.

Also, there was way too much down time in between the two matches.  I’m all for promos and hype pieces and getting over wrestlers and the angles they are in.  But breaking them up may have kept my interest longer.  The episode still played, I could hear it while doing other things and waiting for a match to start.  All that means that I wasn’t actually watching the show though.

These complains are very slight.  The overall product is some of the best wrestling I’ve ever seen and I cant wait to watch more ROH.
