Atomic Robo: The Ghost of Station X #3 Review.

“That wasn’t done on a whim.”

Yes, to answer your question, page 3 of the third issue had one of my favorite lines in the entire book!  It really is crazy to have some of the best writing I’ve ever read so early in three consecutive issues.  The mouse trap analogy is brilliant and I will now waste a good chunk of time waiting for the perfect moment to steal it and use it in every day conversation.

Everything in this book is brilliant though.  Besides this robot man walking around everything is within the limits of science.  Sure, some of it is experimental unproven and theoretical science, but its science nonetheless.  My two scientist friends (seriously, can someone send me the names and a brief backstory?!) throw the insane idea out there of a computer that is designed to keep its existence a secret.

WHAT?!

It causes a brain cramp to think about it.  But if they didn’t create the computer then there would be no need to create a computer that covers its own existence because it actually wouldn’t exist, and oh I’ve gone all cross eyed again.

Don’t get worried and feel like there isn’t any action in a book called Atomic Robo.  We still don’t know who the evil mastermind is in this story, but his/her minions make their presence known in this issue.  Guns, tanks and giant robots galore!

Everything looks how it feels in this issue.  What’s that? Yes, this is where I get to the art.  When Atomic Robo jumps out of a building the panel is huge!  The angles, the weapons, the danger.  It feels immense.  When he is stuck in an office and bad things are about to happen while he is trapped in a tiny place – small panels.  Holy crap!  Someone dogeared and high lighted their copy of Understanding Comics and then created an advanced class in it.

Finally, the last page of the book.  “Red 5 Standing By…”  When was the last time you saw a comic book company hype up how accessible they are to children?  Its been ages.  The short lived Johnny DC was, you know, short lived.  Now we have super heroes doing things we shouldn’t write about in 52 new ways.  I now feel bad that I may have used swear words and possibly other inappropriate language in previous reviews of this title.  There is so little out there that is truly all ages, I would hate to have something vulgar show up in a Google search for Atomic Robo.

Which reminds me, Atomic Robo Awesome.  See I pay attention @Red5Comics
