From DC Comics.
I don’t even know what this book is! While picking up new issues I saw this on the rack and thought it was some pre-New DC 52 book and thus not at all in current continuity. But no! This is one of those strange New DC titles that is not a part of the official list of 52 and is instead an extra title. A limited series that slips through the cracks and thus under the radar of most fans. I’ll be honest, this is the third issue and its the first time I heard of it.
The book follows three heroes on three different adventures: RobotMan, Garbage Man and Tanga. All three heroes are fighting giant monsters in their separate stories. This fact along with it being a limited series, makes me think all three stories are connected and each story will tie into one larger story.
The RobotMan story is fun. A lot of great tech ideas, and a good explanation of why he isn’t in the Doom Patrol any more. I really liked the idea of nano-assassins. Creatures that traverse the internet and “eat”, thus deleting, any bit of knowledge about RobotMan. Garbage Man is a brilliant addition to the Batman world. As much as Gotham City is a shady underworld, there is the under under world of the sewers. Garbage Man could show us things in the DC Universe that we’ve never seen. (Yes, there is the reboot and thus we have never seen any of this, but you get my point I hope.) Tanga is alright, but this snippet was not enough to hook me on the character. However, seeing a giant blue whale monster thing blew my mind. The character may not have sold me yet, but the imagination did.
Not a bad series, and I’ll pick up the rest to make up my mind. But check back with me to see if you should spend your hard earned cash on it.
