I have always found something romantic about heists… jewel heists in particular. Call me crazy, but maybe it was watching all those caper films as a child that has led me to feel this way
. Anyway, so what better place to set my heist film than one of the most romantic cities in the world? Aw Venice… these words can be heard by many… and actually they are spoken by one of my all time favorite film characters, yes, Mr. Indiana Jones himself
. And of course my three characters will visit the very church that was used as a library in the film, “Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade”. X does in fact mark the spot
.
The other factor that really pulled me into using Venice as our backdrop, is the fact that the city is literally surrounded by water. You’re trapped in a sense. Just like Sonia, Aurelio, and Trevor. Their own beautiful world has trapped them, just like Venice, Italy.
The famous Bridge of Sighs places quiet a role in this script too. It’s called that because when the prisoners were led to their jail cells, the sight of Venice that they saw while crossing this famous bridge, was often the very last time any of them laid eyes on their Venice. Not really a reminder anyone would want when one of them is being threatened to spend time in prison, now is it? So of course I included it in my story
.
So yes, Venice, Italy plays a character itself in my film The Scapegoat.
Please continue to spread the word about my film. I want to show you all my version of the beautiful Venice, Italy. http://kck.st/w4cvBg
Love you all!
