Fear Itself The Fearless #5 Review.

This is the third issue of the series I’ve read and I still neither know nor care what’s going on.  Valkyrie turns up in World War II and helps out the Invaders, before the Enchantress comes down and sends her back to Asgard.  Which stinks that the two blondes didn’t stick around to help.  If they had then maybe they would have seen the Frost Giants inside of Destroyer armor.  Damn.  Thought we would have known about that turn in Marvel history before now.

The Thing feels like a bad guy because he hurt people while possessed.  He and Valkyrie hug it out.  Which is nice because its not like any other hero in the Marvel Universe has ever been mind manipulated by those with evil intent.  Nor is it like the Thing has not one but two super teams who could help him get over these feelings.

Sin and Crossbones get it on after he successfully retrieves one of the hammers for her.  She will now use said hammer to power up one of the Destroyer bots left over from World War II.

The art is fine, which it should be with 4 people working on it, plus the colorist.  A little cluttered at times, but overall fine.  That could be a problem, art that is neither good or bad but just there.  There are scenes with the Enchantress and Valkyrie that look fantastic.  Then Valerie Richards shows up while Thing and Valkyrie talk and its horrendous.  She isn’t in perspective, she isn’t even finished.  I understand having a comic that is stylized and that not everything needs to look “finished” but if you can draw every rock on Thing, you can make the Richards child look like more than a bobble-head.

12 issues of this and it is maybe worth 4.  This should be the dictionary picture for “stretching it out”.
