Record Review: ‘The Amends’ by The Amends

In the last few years a retro rock revival has been evolving in the music scene. Most people know such bands as Rival Sons, Jonathan Tyler & the Northern Lights, and even The Black Keys. Well if there is one band you’ve never heard of in this scene it’s The Amends. Truth is, I might not have heard of them either if they hadn’t followed me on Twitter.

On their debut, the Amends explore a variety of areas in a sort of retro rock tour. The first song, “Depraved” could fit comfortably on a White Stripes or Black Crowes album. “Dance” definitely feels like it could have been a Strokes number, while maintaining it’s originality. This is the kind of album you want to accompany you to the beach; it’s fun, it’s original, and it reminds you of what good rock music sounds out there! Highly recommended.
