Daken Dark Wolverine #18 Review.

Its the second, or is it third issue of this comic I’ve read and I’m still not a fan of Daken.

In this issue Daken meets up with the Runaways, tells them about Roston – who it turns out is a lost member of their super villain families cabal, and then Daken goes to talk to his female counter/love interest before Roston shows up, blows shit up, and the Runaways come in as the cavalry.

Yes, I did purposely do all of that as one run on sentence.

I’m left just not caring about anyone or anything at the end.  The big bad guy breaks an arm, blows up a building, looks creepy and that’s it.  Its not enough to make him seem bad or interesting.  Daken’s love interest tries to take a pill from a height or jump off the building, I’m not sure which.  The thing of it is, I read the previous issue, but I just don’t care about the characters.  I love the Runaways, but they aren’t even named in the book.  (Well, kind of, but not all of them, and not in any way that sticks in your head.)  The most dramatic tension filled moment is not Daken and his “lady” sharing their mutual recognition of being psychopaths.  No, its Daken’s shitty cup of coffee at the Runaways house.

I bought the next issue as well, so come back for the review of issue #19 and we’ll conclude these thoughts.  (Post up in a half hour if you’re reading this “live” or the next article if its archived.)
