These covers make me need and want to get all caught up on comics. The whole Christmas time really threw me off. Plus, I want to read a ton of back issues and comic magazines and work on my own stuff. Its tough to be a dreamer and a blogger.
Know what else is tough? Running a good comic book store in these times. Thankfully the staff at Zeus Comics are smart. They’re smart enough to order good stuff, have frequent sales and most of all treat the customers well. You don’t feel like you’re only worth your money at Zeus Comics, you feel like a friend.
Now lets get this comic party started!
Batgirl #5
This is such a pretty cover. Batgirl looks down but far far from out. The snow is covering but not taking over things. Then there is the fist, already having unleashed some fury but with the capacity to dish out more.
Batwoman #5
I’ve looked at this cover 10 times already while prepping this article and I see something new each time. These are comic book covers that will be hanging in art galleries and taught in classes for generations.
Carnage USA #2
I WANT YOU!… to read the best Carnage story since the classic Maximum Carnage. Really, its not just the covers that are good there’s a pretty great story inside too.
GI Joe A Real American Hero #174
Battered, worn, beaten down but not out. This above all other images tells the world that Storm Shadow is not someone to mess with.
Heart #3
Speaking of not someone to mess with. Holy Fuck is this a great cover! He’s beat, the eyes are shot. The nose, the lips. The places where there are hard lines and soft lines. Oh its incredible. Its also a story that means even more if you’ve been reading the series. That’s the thing about Rooster. No he aint gonna die!!!
Lobster Johnson The Burning Hand #1
You can blame Scary Monsters magazine for my new love of these types of covers. Channeling the traits of the time but with a timeless character from the BPRD. I bet I could hang this outside the local independent theater and people would think it was a lost classic sci fi film.
