New Music Tuesday!: 12/20/11

Only one more New Music Tuesday coming up for this year; let’s see what’s left to come out!

One of TV’s newest stars, Common (Hell on Wheels), drops his new album The Dreamer/The Believer. Recording for this album began in 2009, but was put on hold for acting. Common has stated that he has crafted this album to be “positive hip/hop.” The album has a few guests appearances as all hip-hop albums do including, Nas, John Legend, and even Maya Angelou. This is one album you don’t want to miss!

Kevin Hearn, keyboardist of Barenaked Ladies fame as well as cousin to Harlan Williams, releases a solo album entitled Cloud Maintenance. Hearn has said that this album is about journeys, and it takes you all over the place, including to wintery places, sun shine cities, and the clouds. For fans of Barenaked Ladies, Owl City, and other piano driven music, this is for you!

Roscoe Dash releases his new extended play J.U.I.C.E. With a cross between indie and Atlanta style party rap, Dash has been releasing his style of rap since 2009. This EP includes guest spots from Wale and Big Sean. You may be wondering watch the aforementioned title stands for? Just Understand I Control Everything.

Young Jeezy puts out his first new album in three years entitled Thug Motivation 103: Hustlerz Ambition. The title sounds like a bad sci-fi novel and fits in the region of rappers who delayed the release of their new album by two years. The album title acts as a follow up to Jeezy’s first album Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 and The Inspiration.
