As the year winds down, you’ll start to see fewer artists releasing albums this time of year. Christmas time is fast approaching and there is less money to be made. You’ll also see a lot of musicians releasing on vinyl; sales in this area are never quantifiable but the die-hard’s will gobble it up for sure. However, there are a few releases notable enough to be mentioned here this week.
You know that guy that gave us the song “Black & Yellow?” You know, that song with that really annoying chorus where they kept saying black and yellow over and over again? Well he decided to star in a film with Snoop Dogg. Look, if you two wanted to get together to do an album or something, why not just do that, instead of a Cheech & Chong rip off with a soundtrack to go with it? If you’re interested, it’s out tomorrow.
Now for an artist who is worth talking about, Anthony Hamilton is back with his first album in three years, as well as his first album on the RCA label. You won’t find anything really heterogeneous compared to Hamilton’s back catalog. Does that mean that it’s not good? Hello no, this mother fucker is smooth and well worth it for an R&B as well as a Soul fan.
To round out this weeks new releases, is a band that many were introduced to with the song “Du Hast;” None other than Germany’s Rammstein. This greatest hits album contains 15 remixes, a new song (“Mein Land”), and for the ultra die hard fan, there is a 2 CD/3 DVD set complete with all of their music videos and making of features accompanying them. If you’re looking for a good introduction to the band, this is a superb place to start, or if you’re a hardcore fan, you know you have to have it.
Check for this post every Tuesday, and if you have any suggestions as to we missed or music coming up that you would like to see on here, leave a comment!
