X-Club #1 Review.

The story of a group of teen Marvel mutants from England who become pop stars.  Oh, my bad.  Its just an unfortunately named new X-Men title.  This is the story of a group of super intelligent mutants and their adventures!  Lets find out more.

The book is supposed to be about 4 mutants, although Cyclops and Magneto do more than two of them in the book and those two legendary mutants don’t get any billing.  Dr Nemesis, topping the list of coolest names I’ve seen in a comic in years.  Danger, the former Danger Room come to life as a teen girl trying to find her way all the while being overly emotional and extremely deadly.  Madison Jefferies, who sounds familiar and raided the closet of the Fear Agent.  Finally Kavita Rao who does two things in this comic: jack and shit.

Plot!  The X-Men of Utopia (not the X-Men of Madison County) are raising the world’s first space elevator.  Well Magneto is raising it.  Cyclops makes a speech.  Nemesis and Rao say some things and react to what’s going on.  Danger and Madison are at the top of the elevator, eating at the revolving restaurant in the stratosphere.  Then some ocean dwellers (maybe Atlantean) show up and complain about the environmental impact.  Yes, because Magneto’s mutant magnetic powers are known for the toxic by products they leave behind.  One of them blows up, the whole dock smells like fish blood and then Brute Force shows up.

Last page of this issue:

And here is the classic (HA!) cybernetic animal super hero team, Brute Force:

Yup.

Oh, also, Danger gets hacked and tries to make things go boom.  I’ve only read two stories with Danger in them, and that is what has happened to her in both stories.

Yes, its a limited series and obviously this is being written for a collection but this gave me no reason to care about the characters the story or anything else in here enough to come back.
