New Music Tuesday: 11/22/11

This is the week of very strange release dates…in fact, most of the major releases for this week have already been released!

Over a year after Rihanna told us she was into “S&M,” she’s back with her new album Talk That Talk. Rihanna has originally announced to re-release her previous album Loud with bonus tracks, but announced in September that there would be a new album this fall. The album was released on Monday which is strange…really sure you could have waited another day.

The world’s most average rock band is back with their 7th studio album entitled Here and Now. on the album, lead singer Chad Kroeger said “We’re four people who love making music, the way we like to make it. We entered the studio this year with a vision, and it all came together. We’re extremely happy with the results, and can’t wait to share them with our fans.” This album was also released on Monday.

One of two former American Idol contestants have albums released this week. The first is Daughtry who are back with their follow up to Leave This Town entitled Break the Spell. Daughtry has said that this album is different than the first two and cites a song called “Spaceship” as an example. The song also features a song called “Renegade,” which will be featured as the theme song for WWE’s December Pay-Per-View Tables, Ladders, and Chairs. They have also released another song featured on the Batman: Arkham City video game soundtrack entitled “Drown in You.”

The second former Idol contestant and winner; Adam Lambert follows up his 2009 album For Your Entertainment (hmm is this a tribute to FYE stores?) with an album featuring material written before Idol called Beg For Mercy.

This years America’s Got Talent, Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. winner releases his album That’s Life. The album features 11 tracks originally performed by Frank Sinatra. On the show, Landau earned throngs of fans with his renditions of classic Sinatra hits including “My Way,” “Fly Me to the Moon,” and “Under My Skin.” You will find those on here along with many more classic Frankie tunes.

Speaking of winner’s of TV reality shows, the winner of NBC’s The Voice drops his third(?) album Come Through For You. The album features all original tracks and includes a duets with Natasha Bedingfield and Adam Levine, his coach on the show. Strangely absent from the album is the original hit “Stitch by Stitch.” Speaking of Voice contestants, Dia Frampton’s debut solo album Red will be dropping in a couple of weeks…be sure to support both these artists.

Taylor Swift releases her first live album entitled Speak Now: World Tour Live. The album features 16 tracks including a cover of Train’s “Drops of Jupiter,” “Bette Davis Eyes,” and “I Want You Back,” which was originally recorded by the Jackson 5. The album also included a DVD of all these live performances and additional bonus content.
