9. Brad Paisley – Time Well Wasted (2005)

Yeah I know what you’re thinking, another country album, but Brad Paisley isn’t your normal country artist. He’s funny, he’s serious, and he writes ballads, traditionalist tunes and can play a guitar as good, if not better than John Mayer. You can see Brad’s brilliance in songs like “Alcohol”, which is a song written from the perspective of alcohol itself, and the beautiful song “When I Get Where I’m Going” is a great lamentation on death and what’s waiting on the other side. Put the country label aside, and just give it a listen.
