20. Drive-By Truckers – Decoration Day (2003)

The nice thing about the Truckers is that if you go to their website you will get background info about the albums they record, what state of mind they were in and the subject of the songs. Decoration Day is a day that southern churches set aside to put flowers of the graves of the deceased. Aptly titled due to the dark nature of this album, the one thing about the Truckers is that they tour nonstop and when they actually do stop they generally record an album in between time…so they just don’t stop! This album explores those areas of their life and is just fantastic. They’re alt-rock/country-rock band, but don’t let that discourage you, good songwriting and fantastic musicianship is abundant on this record.

Recommended Tracks: “Sink Hole,” “Marry Me,” “Heathens,” “Your Daddy Hates Me,” “Decoration Day”
