[Ed. note: Newest Hellions, and former co-worker of mine, Aubriann was lucky enough to go to this year’s New York Comic Con. She was also gracious enough to take a bunch of pictures and send them to me. Aubri is a budding stand up comedian and anytime she has a show coming up (and tells me in advance) I’ll post it here for all of you. Check out all of her pictures, say some nice things, and hopefully she’ll be back on the site soon.]
Weeping Angel from Doctor Who.
Mark Hamill signing a kids wheelchair, which is sweet, but he still charged $100/ autograph. Luke’s looking a bit old maybe he should have stayed on the moisture farm…
Bill Plympton. Who was really super awesome, and genuinely happy to sign stuff and talk. He signed 3 DVDs for me, then drew a picture, gave me a film clip from one of his movies and signed that as well (for free). He didn’t seem to realize just how cool he is. Which made him cooler. I, however, was a huge dorkus.
Dr. Who. In order: Chick in Dalek costume with a Tardis wardrobe, Dalek, Dalek with Ian McNeice (who plays Winston Churchill). Ian was signing for $20 a pop, but had no qualms with a few handshakes and pictures for free. The crowd/ line was ridiculous though. I don’t think the woman in costume was anyone special (to anyone outside of her mom, and possibly boyfriend), so if it turns out she is, sorry.
Quail Man. One of four I bumped into, this was my favorite. Except for black Quail Man, but he didn’t want to stop for a picture, which I decided meant he was in witness protection. And not that he didnt understand what cosplaying meant.
Link and Shiek. The best Link I saw all weekend, and the kids were cool. It was like, hey man can I get a picture and faster than a power ranger mightily morphs they were in position. One of my personal cosplaying rules is one should use what they got. Like, it’s cool, you’re living out a fantasy, but I’ve seen way too many Leias that looked more like Jabbas. This kid actually looked like Link.
That Guy. So, not really a cosplayer, his big head just entered the frame every time I tried to get a shot of the New 52. So I figured he just really wanted to end up in a blog about Comic Con. Well played.
Jack Skellington. Totally on stilts, this guy saw me trying to grab a picture and played a bit, hiding behind banners and sneaking around, finally giving me a nice shot. Then he bent down to shake a kids hand.
Batman and Black Cat
