32. The Mars Volta – De-Loused in the Comatorium (2003)

The debut of one half of the debunked At the Drive-In, this album blew my mind when I first heard it. It is a concept album about a man who tries to kill himself and ends up going into a coma and have a week long experience exploring humanity and his own psyche. Volta makes the strangest prog-rock you’ve ever heard and it’s just entertaining to listen to.
