Smarked for Death – WWE Raw 10/3/11.

After a cluster of an ending to last night’s PPV, what does tonight’s edition of Raw have in store?

Quick teaser for some of tonight’s action and a brief mention that Jerry Lawler is still not recovered enough to comment.  Then we begin the show.

Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre

Drew!  I haven’t seen him in forever!  He doesn’t get any entrance music but at least he gets a big match on Raw.  Drew looks a lot bigger than I remember.  Of course, its been so long I wont bet money on me being correct there.  At first this looks to be a squash and I felt bad for the Scotsman.  Then Drew starts showing off some ring work and its a great showing against this multiple time world champion.  McIntyre comes off the turnbuckles and everyone knows its going to be  a mistake.  Randy gets up his boots and that’s all he needs to start mounting a comeback.  Hanging DDT and an RKO are all it takes to put Drew away.  Hopefully he did well enough to get noticed by Creative yet again.

Orton drags Drew back up just to hit another RKO on him.  Why do you have to bury the guy?  Randy celebrates but here comes the champ.  Mark Henry makes his way to the ring and shows off the big belt.  He and Randy have a battle over shiny things while security tries to pull them apart.

After the commercial break and Orton is gone, but Mark Henry waits in the ring.  I guess he’s waiting on the production truck to play his video package.  Its also announced that the Big Show returns this week on Smackdown.  I should really make the time to watch Smackdown again.

Mark Henry (World champion) vs. John Morrison

Mark looks to have this match easily won, but John flips out of the slam attempt and starts coming after Henry from every angle. John hits Starship Pain and the world screams upset.  But no, Mark kicks out and now knows he has to get serious.  Mark hits a HUGE kick on Morrison.  Seriously, you’ll be shocked he gets that big hamhock up so damn high.  Follow this with  a  World’s Strongest Slam and the fight is gone from Morrison.

Henry hits one more for fun and then shows off those fine new promo skills he bought.

Johnny Ace speaks with the Litigious Legion.  Miz and Truth have filed a lawsuit, possibly with the help of David Otunga.  The group is going to bring their arguments to the people.  Johnny Ace sends a text.  Oh no!  Not a text!

Alberto Del Rio, Christian, Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, Vickie Guerrero and David Otunga are all in the ring.  Are these men the new major heels of the company?  The only major heel not in the ring right now is Mark Henry.  Del Rio believes Triple H had something to do with the attack after last night’s main event.  Christian thinks Hunter has lost control.  Everyone else says the same things, that they think Trips is doing a shitty job as COO.

Hunter eventually hears enough and comes out to address the lawsuit union.  He talks about the big tag team match later tonight, but forgets to mention Mason Ryan as one of the participants.  Well, that’s not a good way to prevent the lawsuit from growing.  Hunter says shut up and fight, but nothing is actually addressed or solved.

Kelly Kelly and Eve Torres vs. Beth Phoenix (Divas Champion) and Natalya

Natalya raises the Divas title with Beth.  Are they teasing jealousy already?  Kelly gets so rough with Beth (and Eve with Natalya, but not on camera) that the referee calls for the DQ before more than two moves took place in the ring.

I gotta say, this has been the most surprising story line of the last couple months.  You never know who will win which match, nor which Diva will bring their A game.  Its actually a really good story for the women.  Well, for four of them.  There’s at least 10 more women who have nothing to do week in and week out.

Johnny Ace talks Hunter into asking the Superstars to take a vote of no confidence.  Ugh.  Its just so damn obvious that Ace is behind everything.  Just pull the trigger on it already.

Jinder Mahal is out cutting a promo when Santino Marella makes his return.  Somehow, Santino with longer hair looks even more ridiculous.  The two speak gibberish at each other, and that’s enough to set up the match.

Santino vs. Jinder

This doesn’t last long.  Santino hits the Cobra and Jinder hits the showers.

An excellent promo airs for Brodus Clay.  Awesome.  Lets get the guy a push!

Last night’s fracas is played.  Then the Miz and Truth had to post a video on YouTube because they are unemployed and cant come to Raw to say such things.

John Cena, CM Punk, Sheamus, Mason Ryan and Air Boom vs. Swagger, Dolph, Otunga, Christian, Cody and Del Rio

Does anyone think anything big is going to happen in a 12 man tag team match?  No?  Good, I wont call the details then.  Who takes the pin here?  I’m guessing Otunga.

There is a crazy amount of time allowed to this match.  It would make sense if this were elimination rules, but it is not.  Everyone gets to hit their finishers and we’re left with Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler.  Sheamus hits a Brogue kick on the United States champion and the good guys get the pin.

The amount of people who are at the show and didn’t wrestle, nor have they wrestled in weeks if not months is unreal.  I forgot Tamina still works for WWE.  If you’re usually on Superstars or NXT congratulations on your only Raw air time for the year.

All of the WWE employees (on camera ones, not any cameramen and the like) come out to ringside and wait to give their votes of confidence to acting COO of WWE, Triple H.

I’ll guess.  We know that heel faction will vote no.  If I were a wrestler that’s been stuck off camera for the last year, I’d vote no as well.  Maybe the next COO will put you on the big two shows more often.  Or you know, at all.

Titus O’Neil might be bigger than Ezekiel Jackson.

Hunter says he doesn’t work for the wrestlers, he works for the fans.  Wade Barrett has been elected to speak up for a certain group of Superstars.  Wade says they have an unsafe working environment.  You’re wrestlers.  No shit its unsafe.  Wade says they shouldn’t have to worry about being attacked.  That’s ok, the fans forgot about when you were cool and formed Nexus too.  Mike Chioda speaks up for the referees.  Mike says the refs are taking a lot of abuse from the Superstars lately and no one is protecting them.  Hunter says he fired the guys that did all of that, so what more could he do?  Beth Phoenix says the Divas are worried about what “could” happen.  Well that’s a crock of shit.  Jerry Lawler gets in the ring and says he does think the show is spiraling out of control.  But Jerry doesn’t think its Hunter’s fault.  He thinks someone is trying to sabotage Triple H as COO, but who is it?

Its fucking Johnny Ace people!  Has there ever been a less dramatic reveal?

Christian calls for a vote of no confidence.  His heel group votes no, as do the referees and the Divas.  Jerry also votes no confidence.  What in the hell?  So if you don’t think its his fault why not help him find the real problem?  The conspirator?  Jerry walks out and is followed by the rest of the roster.

Oh no, Michael Cole walked off!  I will be very happy if he doesn’t come back.  WWE’s B level faces walk off, as do the rest of the announcers.  What do Orton, Cena, and Punk have to say?  Oh geeze, even the camera guys walk off.  Although that is a cool visual.  Just to see the camera be set down and all they film is Hunter’s feet.

Jim Ross is the last man standing (well, sitting).  Good ole’ JR even walks out on the COO!

This is horseshit.  My suspension of disbelief has been stretched and snapped.

Johnny Ace comes out and just looks at Hunter.  Did you walk out only to walk away?  Yes, that is all he came out to do.

This whole thing makes no damn sense.
