The Saga…Goes Deeper…
45. Jack Johnson – Brushfire Fairytales (2001)
Let’s be honest, when you first heard “Flake,” you either loved it or hated it. I happened to be one of the ones who loved it. It was fresh, I mean, there is this surfer who enjoys making music from Hawaii. You can hear the slack key guitar influence in this work, but at the same time Jack Johnson made surfer music, if you will, enjoyable. You know what you’re getting into when you sample the first track, “Inaudible Melodies,” with its slow playing; Johnson even implores in the song “slow down.” This is an album good for a long boring ride and it’s good to just chill to with friends.
