Midnight Release 9/20/11.

Really light week for awesome geeky DVDs.  I mean, if you like some of the TV shows that have season sets released today, you’re in luck.  But very few geeky titles.  Also the march towards Halloween has begun with a lot of B movies coming out.

Every week I suggest Scarecrow Video for all your DVD needs and I’m not joking.  This week alone they played the Lita Ford video collection, Escape from the Planet of the Apes, old Donald Duck cartoons and Platoon.  I dare you to go into any FYE or Best Buy in the world and see if they play one of those a year, much less all four in a week.  Seriously go buy stuff from them now.

Now onto the picks!

Captain America

The horrible direct to midnight movie classic.  Rubber ears!  I feel I’ve written this before.  And now I’m seeing conflicting reports whether or not this is out.  Anyone have the phone number for Shout Factory?  Can we get this straight?  Also, while you have Shout Factory on the phone see if I can get a copy of this?

ChromeSkull Laid to Rest 2

The first Laid to Rest wasn’t that bad of a movie.  As any lover of 1980s slasher films knows, once you have an iconic character you may as well throw his name in the sequel titles.  Jason Goes where this time?  Anyways, ole ChromeSkull is going to kill something in the most shiny of ways.

Mad Season 1 Part 1

Yeah, thankfully this is not the Mad TV show which ran late nights for damn near ten years.  This is the all new twisted humor cartoon from Cartoon Network.  Closely toeing the line between Cartoon Network and Adult Swim Mad is great for kids and adults.  The dog-o-phone makes my sides split every single time.

Maria’s B Movie Mayhem Haunted

Hosted by former WWE Diva, Maria!

Katarina’s Nightmare Theater Devil Within Her

Hosted by former WWE Diva Katie Lea/current TNA Knockout Winter

I know nothing of these two movies, but taking former WWE Divas and turning them into horror movie hosts is my kind of gimmick.

Lady Death (BluRay)

This came out?  I remember reading about it back in the glory days of Wizard.  Never thought it actually came out.  Well this is a necessary buy just out of curiosity alone.

Arthur and the Square Knights of the Round Table 1 (and 2)

http://youtu.be/q7O7NgjWPeM

Strange fucked up animation rarely seen since the 1960s.  How could you not want to buy it?!

(UPDATE: Shout Factory wrote back to me. Captain America comes out in October. But why not hype the shit out of it now?
