47. Christian Scott – Anthem (2007)

You won’t see many jazz albums on this list, but this is one of them. This is another stumbled upon great piece of music. This album reflects the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, nearly two years after it occurred. From the first track, “Litany Against Fear,” You get the tone of the album. It’s dark, it’s brooding, and it’s beautiful. This is the best piece of work that Christian Scott has put out to date.
