Midnight Release 8/30/11.

Its my picks for the newest and coolest DVD and BluRay releases for today!  Don’t forget to support the smaller stores.  They’ll take care of you 100s of times better than Wal-Mart or Target could ever dream.  I especially suggest you spend your money over at Scarecrow Video.  The coolest movie store on the West Coast, maybe even the entire country!

Sons of Anarchy and The Vampire Diaries have their most recent seasons available on DVD today.  Two shows that do fit into the geeky world but also two shows I have not gotten into yet.  There may well be a time when I look back at these releases and wonder why I didn’t get more excited over them.  But that time is not today.

Nikita The Complete First Season

I got about half way through this show before I decided I’d rather watch it all at once.  Great action, good plot, fun show.  But it wasn’t enough to make me work my schedule around watching it.  I will however marathon this season when I get hold of it.

Herculoids: The Complete Series (1968) and Moby Dick & The Mighty Mightor: Complete Series (1968)

Two fun and stupid Hanna Barbera classics.

If you’ve ever watched the Boomerang channel you’ve probably seen these shows hundreds of times already.  Herculoids is a space barbarian family show with aliens and monsters.  There’s a sentence I’ve never written.  Not sure about Moby or Mightor but I’ll guarantee the classic H-B laser noises.

UFC: Bad Blood

Packaging the Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz feud.  Ortiz has been an asshole for years, and Chuck may have hung on longer than he should have.  However, a fight with anger and animosity is always fun.  This is a whole set of that kind of fun.

Mad Love: The DVD Edition

As opposed to the VHS edition?  Mad Love wasn’t a horrible show, just average.  Three quarters of the cast were great, and one was again, average.  Guess which one I feel is the lesser!  Usual 20-30 somethings dating in a large city sitcom plot lines.  But it was fun.

Uh-Oh Show (or The Uh! Oh! Show depending on where you look)

Its a game show horror movie.  Answer questions correctly and win big money.  Yay!  We all love big money.  Answer wrong and lose a limb!  This is a big WTF title and I have no idea how one can create a three act plot with a protagonist here.  Although it is a horror movie so that may not be necessary.
