Continuing to look at all the wrestling that is out there, we present the site’s first review of NWA Smoky Mountain wrestling.
I don’t recognize anyone yet but the opening video shows some promising young wrestlers and good in ring action. I’m optimistic.
Matt Rhodes is our host. I’m guessing no relation. As I’m watching this, they just had a big show on Saturday August 20, sorry I missed it folks. There is a faction called the Illuminati which is a great name for a heel group.
The Illuminati is in the ring cutting a promo. I’ve heard 10 names in the last two minutes and I don’t know who anyone is yet. Not that this is a bad thing, there’s always a learning curve when discovering a new wrestling promotion. The Illuminati call themselves the bad guys but all I’m seeing is a guy refusing to wrestle at a charity event, and he’s the good guy? Very confused. Finally the heels say something that goes too far and there’s a scuffle. The numbers outweigh and whoever the face? is gets beat down.
Brandon Cox and Tony Givens cut a promo. I’m not sure which is which yet, but this is part of their overall Illuminati story. Its not bad at all, but its like picking up issue 20 in a 50 issue story.
Commercial offering the promotion’s services for fundraisers. That’s brilliant. Wrestling shows are always guaranteed to bring in a crowd.
Chase Owens and Jason Kincaid highlight videofor their forthcoming match to decide who is the better wrestler. It is a nice video but these spots don’t mean anything to me yet.
Another promo. I understand wanting the fans to come to the show or buy DVDs in order to see the wrestlers. But so far I’m not buying a ticket. Show me some action! I have never once bought a wrestling ticket to hear someone talk.
Beau and Misty James cut a promo. Is Beau a wrestler? Oh he is. I’m sorry, but he looks like an announcer or interviewer and not a wrestler. Not sure if these two are heels or faces, could just be cocky. That being said, if they are heels, its weird seeing heels talking about good causes and charity. Yes cancer is awful but for me its akin to Lex Luthor breaking someone’s neck and then saying, but seriously folks support Relay for Life.
Oh, a match! Its a tag team match and I don’t know who is wrestling. Some graphics to introduce these matches would be nice. A bicycle kick and we have new tag team champions! Legit Dynamite just won the belts. Yay?
