Smarked for Death – WWE Superstars 4/28/11.

Watching WWE Superstars the way it was meant to be seen!  Online!

Excellent call by Curt Hawkins, who said that the Superstars who appear in the opening video of this show are not the ones that actually appear on the show.

Tyson Kidd vs. Trent Barretta

Tyson, who is barely on TV, is getting USA chants.  Last I knew the US was not at war with Canada.  Nor is Tyson doing a Bret Hart like story where he is loved in every country other than America.  Kidd isn’t doing much of anything as far as stories go.  Tyson was one of the supplemental draft picks.  He could excel on Smackdown if given the chance, but that could be said about lots of guys.  The majority of the match has been under Tyson’s control.  He is higher up the ladder than Trent, but Kidd also needs to establish himself on his new home.  The problem with Superstars is because the talent doesn’t appear on Raw or Smackdown they aren’t involved in any stories.  This forces the announcers to talk about the main stories going on in WWE and ignoring the match.  Kidd has always been good in the ring and Barretta improves every week.  Trent hits a flying elbow on Kidd and Barretta’s leap must have covered half the ring.  Its becoming Trent’s match to lose.  Barretta stops any of Kidd’s momentum and knocks Tyson out of the ring.  The story doesn’t end though when Trent dives over the top rope and flips onto Tyson.  WWE Creative needs to stop telling talent that its up to them to make an impact.  These guys are throwing everything out there, screaming to be given a chance.  Back in the ring and Tyson knocks Trent loopy with some devastating drop kicks.  Tyson and Trent both try to close out the match but reverse each other’s attempts.  Tyson finally locks on the Sharpshooter for the pin.  Really good match.

Zack Ryder vs. David Hart Smith

The internet superstar takes on, what the hell?  Smith comes out to a remix of Right to Censor’s theme.  He also is now wearing a cowboy hat to the ring.  Alberta is in the wild west.  Of Canada.  The announcers plug the great YouTube show from Ryder.  Few too many rest holds from a guy who is trying to get over.  Very basic wrestling thus far in this match.  However it then starts to hint at some chain wrestling and submission holds.  David starts to show off his power and muscles Zack around the ring.  Like a cover band, Smith breaks out the delayed suplex and a massive clothesline.  Zack catches Smith coming into the ring and drives David’s back into the ring post.  That’s starting to become a big move.  Zack screams out “call me” and drops a leg across Hart’s throat.  I don’t know what that was, but it  could get over.  Just as much as “you cant see me”.  Smith gets the advantage and hits a massive super plex off the top rope.  Ryder is down but Hart looks just as hurt.  Smith channels Hogan for an unknown reason and hits the big boot followed by the big leg.  Many pin attempts by Smith and Ryder kicks out of every single one.  Zack stops Hart from hitting any moves when Ryder grabs hold of the ring apron.  Its more than enough to mess up Hart’s game and Zack hits the Rough Ryder for the pin.

Melina and Alicia Fox vs. Gail Kim and Natalya

Wow, with one exception all of these women can actually wrestle.  Only one WWE created Diva here.  Natalya shows off some amazing wrestling and all three members of the Hart Family have a lot to be proud of this week.  Melina surprises Natalya with a split kick and everyone thought this match was over already.  Natalya needs the hot tag and everyone knows it.  Alicia surprises everyone with a perfect Northern Lights suplex.  Melina and Alicia have a bit of a miscommunication and Alicia is knocked out of the match for a few.  Melina locks on a Dragon Sleeper and this has been a great night of wrestling.  Nattie finally gets the hot tag and starts taking Fox to school.  Gail hits an arm DDT on Fox and this match is all over.

Probably the best hour of wrestling this week, and each match could be in the top 5 for the week as well.  Sold.
